Night Window

Know what clears your trees tonight

Night Window plans your smart telescope's night around your real horizon: which targets rise above your trees and roofline, and at what time.

Coming soon to the App Store

The Pleiades page in Night Window: the target is still behind the trees, with the note Clears horizon at 11:09 PM.

The Pleiades clear the trees at 11:09 PM.

Scan your trees once

Stand where you set up and trace your trees and roofline with the camera. Night Window saves that skyline for the spot and plans around it every time you come back.

The camera is used only for the live preview. No photos are taken or stored.

The saved horizon for a backyard: a skyline graph with trees to the east and north-east and a lower roofline to the south, with tonight's targets plotted above it.

Tonight's best targets for your telescope

Targets are ranked for your location, your telescope's field of view and the cloud forecast, with suggested capture settings for each.

Works with DWARF 3, DWARF Mini, Seestar S50, Seestar S30, Vespera II and Vespera Pro, or any telescope with the general profile.

Tonight's list: North America Nebula as the top pick, then the Crescent Nebula, Caroline's Rose, Saturn and the Andromeda Galaxy, each with a score and a picture.

Hold your phone up to the sky

Point your phone where you're looking and see each target labelled in place, above or behind your tree line.

Darkroom

Open the stacked image from your telescope, tune a few sliders and save a finished picture. It all runs on the phone.

The Pacman Nebula after the Darkroom: bright pink gas, dark dust pillars and a cluster of young stars, on a dark, even sky. The same field as the DWARF app saves it: a dense star field on a grey-brown sky, with the nebula as a faint, washed-out pink glow. From the telescope Darkroom
NGC 281 from a DWARF 3, about 2 hours 50 minutes. Left: the JPG the DWARF app saves. Right: the same session's FITS after the Darkroom, default settings. Drag to compare.
